Tomorrow is the start of an incredible adventure. But no epic trip starts without a bit of preparation. I've gone through my packing list and checked everything twice. Lucky I did, too, because I quickly realized I was missing a few things. A few days ago I spent some time at Academy, carefully selecting some key items I needed. Preparing for a month-long trip meant there were many things running through my mind - things to buy, details to confirm, essentials to pull out from the back of closets, and messages to send to update friends and family about where I was off to. So I can't say I was surprised that somehow when I left Academy, a few things I purchased didn't leave with me.
Only realizing this today, I rushed to Academy on the off chance my items were waiting for me there. As soon as I walked in and told the store employee about my items, he immediately pulled my bag out! If this isn't a good omen for the start of my trip, I don't know what is. The wonderful employees at Academy had set aside the items I'd left behind in hopes that I'd soon return to collect them. Great people create great experiences! Hoping for many more like this on my trip (minus the leaving things behind)

Back home with my missing goods, I began the fun part - packing up the car! I knew I had a lot of stuff, but.... 😳
I had originally thought to find a travel buddy to join me on my adventures. For the last 3 weeks, I asked around to see if any friends or family wanted to make the trek. I figured it would be nice to have some company, and let's be honest, that much driving is not easy!
Turns out I don't really have much room for travelling companions. There is absolutely zero available space. Every seat is taken, the floor is jam-packed, and there is not a single bit of space left in the trunk. You might be wondering what is taking up the majority of the space. Well, the trunk has all items needed for setting up camp - from tarps, to tents, to tables and chairs. And Looks like my passenger seat will be reserved for my coolers. But hey, a guys gotta eat... 😅
Don't believe me that I could fill a Mercedes to the brim for a solo trip? Here's living proof:
At least I am all ready to go! Being a car from TEXAS, we all know the Canadian border control will be extra diligent about checking for the import of guns... Canadian Border Control, if you are reading this blog post, there are no weapons in this extremely packed car! What you WILL find is a pair of large scissors, a small axe, a hammer, a 4-inch knife in its sheath, and 2 UAE-approved bear sprays for protection when camping up north in bear country.
Wish me luck and that I won't need to completely repack the vehicle in case the border patrol decides to do an in-depth search. (Do you think they'd help me repack...?)
Stay tuned for more. Starting tomorrow I'll be posting daily updates about my adventures. Thanks for tagging along. And subscribe if you haven't already so that you can get a notification once a new post has been published.
See you tomorrow!
